Maurizio run for NoPolio Rotary

Cari amici,

quest’anno parteciperò alla 31a Venice Marathon e sarò fiero di farlo per raggiungere un importante obiettivo: aiutare Rotary International - Distretto 2060 a porre la parola fine alla Poliomelite,

E’ infatti grazie a tutti i Rotary clubs del mondo che con il  programma di prevenzione Polio Plus, lanciato nel 1985, si è registrato un progressivo calo dei casi di poliomelite nel mondo.

Ho deciso quindi di aderire al programma End Polio Now come miglia di cittadini nel mondo e pensate che con solo 0,50 € è possibile proteggere un bambino dal virus per il resto della sua vita e magari regalargli il sogno di correre una maratona!

Oggi la Polio è presente solo in 2 paesi (Afghanistan e Pakistan), il traguardo della totale eradicazione è vicino, ma ora serve lo sprint finale per raggiungerlo!

Dear friends

This year I will be competing at the 31^st Venice Marathon being a proud runner for a very important project: to help and support Rotary International (District 2060) to put the word end to Polio.

It is thanks to all Rotary clubs worldwide that ,with the program Polio Plus, originally launched on 1985, it was achieved a significant reduction of polio cases around the world.

So I decided to adhere to the program End Polio Now as well as thousands of citizens from all around the world; just with ½ Euro you can protect a children from this virus for the rest of his/her life and perhaps give the hope to run a marathon sometime in the future.

Today Polio still exists only in 2 countries (Afganistan and Pakistan) and the achievement of the total eradication is very near but we all need the final sprint to get it !
