Save a generation: run for the kids

Loading...

Hi and thank you for visiting!

I am an EIUC student currently following the European Masters Degree in Human Rights and Democratisation. I hope by joining this run to be part of the community that is currently welcoming me as a foreign student. I'm getting great benefits from Venice, i'd like to give back.

One of the most important Human Rights are those for children; the right to education, to a fair chance for a future. Children who have suffered from the ebola crisis are at risk of falling behind, and it is up to us who are able, to ensure they don't. I would like to run for this charity because i want to contribute to my ideal that it does not matter where your crib was, you have a fair chance at life.

Here is some more information on Street Child Italia, unfortunately the translation is sometimes limited:

''Street Child Italy launches The Legacy of Ebola Appeal, with the aim of creating a sustainable future for thousands of children who have been affected dall'Ebola.

More than 8,500 people died of Ebola in Sierra Leone and Liberia since the outbreak of the epidemic. Although the virus is almost gone, there is still much to be done to revive the population by the conditions that the epidemic has generated.

In Sierra Leone and Liberia and an estimated 20,000 children orphaned by Ebola. Many are still at risk of hunger, malnutrition and abuse. For thousands of their access to education is not guaranteed.

Many of the victims of Ebola were the margins of society before the virus began. For children and families who have not yet received support, the effects of the epidemic are still very acute. Without the necessary assistance the humanitarian crisis will worsen.

So far Street Child, nonprofit organization with many years of experience in assisting children and disadvantaged vurnerable persons in  West Africa, brought aid to 506 of them rinserendoli in a family and helping them overcome the traumas resulting from the loss of parents and stigma Ebola that follow them.

Now with the imminent opening of the schools our prerogative is to ensure that as many children can return to school.

The school is for these children who are vulnerable and traumatized, they had to go through unimaginable suffering, the only way to be able to look ahead and start living! Most of them have seen their parents die before their eyes without being able to give a last hug, have suffered isolation and hunger locked up for weeks at home under quarantine and now with the reopening of schools, having already lost a entire school year, it presents a unique opportunity to rebuild a future trying to overcome and forget the suffering of the past.

Follow our path and help us create a better future for the communities most affected by the crisis in West Africa.

Thank you very much for your valuable support!
