Celebrando Primo Levi

ENGLISH

2019 marks the centennial of the birth of Primo Levi, an exceptional witness of Auschwitz and one of the most read Italian writers in the world. (So far, his works have been translated into 45 languages.) The International Primo Levi Studies Center is engaged in promoting a dense calendar of initiatives to celebrate this centennial.

On this occasion we would like to make a new version of the Center’s web site available. The new site, which will make its appearance by the end of February 2019, has been designed both to make it easier for users to access its contents  (in compliance with up-to-date navigation standards) and to offer them a comfortable and intuitive “passage” through the various dimensions of Primo Levi’s works, the works of a man who was a writer, Auschwitz witness and scientist. Thanks to the Fondazione CRT and other institutions that are partially supporting this work, we have been able to cover roughly half of the necessary investment, but additional funding is need to complete this work on the site.

Hence we are asking everyone who counts her- or himself members of the vast community of people who take Primo Levi’s works to heart to make a donation to this project. If we reach the goals of this funding campaign by the end of February, we will be able to support the research work on the project of reconstructing the circulation of the 1500 copies sold of the first edition of If This is a Man, copies whose owners or locations are only partially known, as well as putting together the history of the single copies passed around from hand to hand over the years. This would be a great goal to reach together before December 2019! If you wish to take part in this project, click on the link DONATE, make your donation on this page, and help spread the word about this initiative among your friends: in unity there is strength.
