Tour d'Europe

Loading...

9 colleagues across Continental Europe and the UK cycled 230 km for the good cause from the Moselle estuary in Koblenz (Germany) to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. In fact three of them have extended their tour and started from Kronberg to Koblenz (just about another 100km). Why did our colleagues put themselves through this test of cycling? Some of them were undoubtedly driven by sporting ambition. Others will have put themselves through the grinder because they wanted to make a difference and to donate money to a good cause. Donate? Yes, absolutely right. The Tour d'Europe ranks among the regular sporting events which colleagues from Continental Europe take part in to help a good cause. This year it was crystal clear were the money collected by the Tour d'Europe shall go: To Italy to rebuild after the Earthquake.

A magnitude-6.2 earthquake hit central Italy early Wednesday August 26th and affected the villages in the Marche and Lazio regions. The earthquake struck ancient villages in mountainous central Italy, and in addition to the loss of human life widespread destruction of cultural heritage is also damaged. During the course of the past years these villages have already suffered neglect phenomena or migration from shifting from rural to urban areas nearby. Fidelity International wants to support the reconstruction of one of the most popular centres - a polyvalent area - which brings together people in the area and has been damaged by the earthquake. The aim is to help the Association "Amici di Grisciano" - that has been taking care of social initiatives in the municipality of Grisciano for years - and its project to rebuild the area.
