Parenting for Lifelong Health

The Human Safety Net is supporting the global initiative “Parenting for Lifelong Health” (PLH) to promote playful, nurturing caregiving and prevent violence against children with messages and resources for parents based on strong evidence and research. Together with The Human Safety Net, PLH will develop and pilot two innovative digital solutions for providing free online access to these resources worldwide in all sort of settings: ParentText and ParentChat.

ParentText is an interactive text message system for parents, which proposes daily activities to families, while offering positive feedback and on-demand content through a chatbot, all via SMS in order to reach low-income communities that might not even have access to smartphones. ParentChat offers a methodology for facilitating parenting support groups on online messaging platforms such as WhatsApp or Viber, with facilitators who guide activities through multimedia content.

The PLH initiative is led by the University of Oxford in partnership with WHO, UNICEF, UNODC, USAID, CDC and the Global Partnership to End Violence.

The Human Safety Net sostiene l'iniziativa globale "Parenting for Lifelong Health" (PLH) per promuovere una genitorialità basata sulla cura, il gioco e la prevenzione alla violenza contro i bambini grazie alla diffusione di messaggi e risorse basati su solide evidenze scientifiche. Insieme a The Human Safety Net, PLH svilupperà e sperimenterà due soluzioni digitali innovative per favorire un accesso online e gratuito a queste risorse in tutto il mondo e in tutti i diversi tipi di contesto: ParentText e ParentChat.

ParentText è un sistema di messaggi di testo interattivo per genitori, che propone attività quotidiane rivolte alle famiglie, offrendo feedback positivi e contenuti on demand tramite un chatbot, il tutto via SMS per raggiungere comunità a basso reddito che potrebbero anche non avere accesso agli smartphone. ParentChat offre una metodologia per facilitare i gruppi di supporto genitoriale su piattaforme di messaggistica online come WhatsApp o Viber, con facilitatori che guidano le attività attraverso contenuti multimediali.

L'iniziativa PLH è guidata dall'Università di Oxford in collaborazione con OMS, UNICEF, UNODC, USAID, CDC e Global Partnership to End Violence.
