In ricordo di Andrea

Secondo i dati più recenti, nel 2022 sono stati stimati 14.500 nuovi casi in Italia. Il tasso di mortalità non si è modificato in modo significativo negli ultimi anni e quello del pancreas si attesta come il tumore con la minor sopravvivenza sia a un anno dalla diagnosi (34 per cento nell’uomo e 37,4 per cento nella donna) che a cinque anni (11 per cento nell’uomo e 12 per cento nella donna). Affrontare questa malattia è complicato dal punto di vista fisico e psicologico e la ricerca rappresenta l'unico strumento per dare speranze ai malati e alle loro famiglie.

Andrea, nonostante la consapevolezza data dalle statistiche, ha continuato a lavorare, a fare i suoi giri in vespa ed in moto, ha sorriso e si è arrabbiato, ha guardato commedie divertenti alla televisione e letto libri interessanti, sperimentato nuovi ristoranti e prenotato concerti.

Ha fatto prevalere la vita fino all'ultimo respiro. 

Andrea non è più qui con noi, ma la sua presenza è ovunque. Vive negli occhi delle persone che ancora lo amano e di quelle che da lui hanno imparato molto, umanamente e professionalmente.

Per onorare il suo coraggio, ma anche per dare speranza a chi sta soffrendo a causa di questo male, noi, la famiglia di Andrea, insieme a Diasorin SPA e ad Airc, abbiamo pensato di dedicargli una borsa di studio biennale del valore di €50.000 per un progetto di ricerca volto a studiare possibili cure per il tumore al pancreas.

L'apertura del bando è prevista a breve e conterrà tutte le informazioni necessarie per potersi candidare.

La borsa di studio verrà assegnata al ricercatore / ricercatrice che avrà presentato il miglior progetto di ricerca.

Durante il percorso, sarà nostra cura fornire aggiornamenti periodici su sviluppi e risultati.

In memoria di Andrea, invitiamo a donare, così che la sua energia possa essere di supporto a tanti altri attraverso la ricerca scientifica.

According to the most recent data, 14,500 new cases were estimated in Italy in 2022. The mortality rate has not changed significantly in recent years and that of the pancreas is the cancer with the lowest survival both at one year after diagnosis (34 percent in men and 37.4 percent in women) and at five years (11 percent in men and 12 percent in women).

Facing this illness is complicated both physically and psychologically, and research represents the only tool to give hope to patients and their families.

Despite being aware of the statistics, Andrea continued to work, to take his rides on his Vespa and motorcycle, he smiled and got angry, watched funny comedies on television and read interesting books, tried new restaurants, and booked concerts. He prioritized life until his last breath. Andrea is no longer with us, but his presence is everywhere. He lives in the eyes of the people who still love him and in those who have learned a lot from him, both personally and professionally.

To honor his courage, but also to give hope to those suffering from this illness, we, Andrea's family, together with Diasorin SPA and Airc, have decided to dedicate a biennial scholarship worth €50,000 for a research project aimed at studying possible treatments for pancreatic cancer. The opening of the call for applications is expected soon and will contain all the necessary information to apply.

The scholarship will be awarded to the researcher who presents the best research project. Throughout the process, it will be our responsibility to provide periodic updates on developments and results. In memory of Andrea, we invite donations so that his energy can support many others through scientific research.

The AIRC Foundation for Cancer Research in Italy (Fondazione AIRC per la Ricerca sul Cancro, or AIRC) was founded in 1965 by a group of researchers at the Istituto Tumori in Milan, including Umberto Veronesi and Giuseppe della Porta, with invaluable support from eminent local business people. From the outset, AIRC has been committed to fostering cancer research in Italy, and has gradually expanded to include 17 Regional Committees and count over 4.500.000 supporters.
