Let's help the Querini Stampalia Library to move forward! Following the extensive tide that affected the city on last  November 12th night, the Querini Stampalia Foundation observes extensive damage to the entire ground floor of the Palazzo.

It is still early to quantify all the damages economically and in detail, although at a first glance one can already estimate several hundred thousand euros, around half a million, between those that can be noted right now and others that will have to be addressed in the next  weeks.

The Scarpa Area, the Auditorium, the Book Deposits, the Bookshop and the Cafeteria are significantly affected.  The director of the Querini Stampalia Foundation Marigusta Lazzari comments: "Over the past thirty years, considerable resources have been used in restoration works that have secured the structure from high water, up to a height of 160 cm.  Targeted and daily cost reduction actions seem to be thwarted by this dramatic event and it is with great sadness that we must note that this will heavily affect the structure in the near future".

The library is a fundamental reference point for students and therefore remains open until midnight during the week. We, in Rotary District 2060, intend to take action with passion and determination in order to significantly support this fundraiser.  Culture is a universal good and Venice is one of its cradles.  Let's help the Library and the city to move forward, with a donation!
