Saint George Flyers

Children in Crisis è una ONLUS internazionale che sostiene l'istruzione infantile: l'educazione dei bambini è l'investimento più sicuro e sostenibile per la crescita delle persone, delle comunità e delle nazioni.

Per questo Children in Crisis Italia sostiene progetti per la costruzione di scuole, la formazione di docenti e l'alfabetizzazione in  America Latina e Africa. Ma anche in Italia c'è bisogno di sostenere la scolarità: soprattutto dove c'è disagio, la probabilità che un ragazzo abbandoni la scuola prima di aver raggiunto il suo pieno potenziale è più alta, anche qui a Milano.

L'Orchestra Giovanile Pepita è il progetto di Children in Crisis che, attraverso la formazione di una orchestra giovanile permanente e l'insegnamento della musica d'insieme, offre una possibilità di incontro e confronto, e di ricerca di un obiettivo comune attraverso il linguaggio universale della musica.

Noi siamo i Saint George Flyers: Patrick McCullagh di Winchester, Tim Baker di Oxford, Francesco Chemolli e Dominic Rowsell di Milano. Correndo sosteniamo l'Orchestra Giovanile Pepita e Children in Crisis; abbiamo conosciuto alcuni membri dell'orchestra tramite i Podisti da Marte, e abbiamo sentito di persona i risultati del loro lavoro. Hanno fatto tanto, tanto altro c'è da fare, e per questo serve l'aiuto e il sostegno di tutti, anche economico: il costo del programma per un ragazzo per un anno è di 800 €. L'obiettivo della campagna di raccolta fondi è consentire a 15 ragazzi di partecipare all'orchestra. Noi vorremmo riuscire ad aiutarne almeno uno, e contiamo su di voi per riuscirci.

Children in Crisis (UK site) is an international charity that supports children's education: the education of children is the safest investment and sustainable growth of individuals, communities and nations.

For this reason Children in Crisis Italy supports projects to build schools, train teachers and promote literacy in Latin America and Africa. But also here in Italy there is a need to sustain education: especially where there is discomfort, the probability that a child drop out of school before reaching his or her full potential is higher, also here in Milano.

The Youth Orchestra Pepita is the project of Children in Crisis, which through the formation of a youth orchestra, aims to teach music to kids and youths, offer a chance to meet and learn, and search for a common goal through the universal language of music.

We are the Saint George Flyers: Patrick McCullagh Winchester, Tim Baker of Oxford, Francesco Chemolli and Dominic Rowsell of Milan. Running, we support the Youth Orchestra Pepita and Children in Crisis. We met some members of the orchestra through the Runners from Mars, and we have personally heard the results of their work. They have done much, but there is much more to do, and this requires the help and support of all, including economic support: the cost of the program one person for a year is € 800. The objective of this year's fund-raising campaign is to allow 15 children to participate in the orchestra. We would like to be able to help us with at least one, and we count on you to do that.
