‘WeCanIt’ Supports ‘Stella Polare’

Can two projects support each other?

Yes, if the first one deals with women in (maritime) labour history and the other one with the surfacing, assistance and social integration of victims – especially women and girls – of human trafficking and severe labour exploitation.  

This is made possible because both of them carry out their activities in the knowledge that today, as in the past, in the case of women’s labour, the intertwining of work, exploitation, and oppression has been – and still is – very frequent. Because both of them have the awareness that coercion – even slavery – and violence can have many faces. Because for both of them, the “fallen women” are only those who have been tripped up. Because both of them want “freedom”, “choice”, and “dignity” to be more than only words.   

Because both of them know that only by following the ‘Stella Polare’ (trans. North Star) ‘WeCan[do]It’.

“WeCanIt” sostiene “Stella Polare”

Possono due progetti sostenersi l’un l’altro?

Si, se il primo è un progetto che si occupa di storia del lavoro – di lavoro marittimo femminile in particolare – e l’altro dell’emersione, assistenza e inclusione sociale di vittime – specialmente donne e ragazze – di tratta e di grave sfruttamento. 

Ciò è possibile perché entrambi operano sapendo che oggi come in passato, nel caso del lavoro femminile, l’intreccio tra lavoro, sfruttamento e sopraffazione è stato – ed è ancora – assai frequente. Perché entrambi hanno la consapevolezza che coercizione – se non addirittura di schiavitù – e violenza possono assumere molti volti. Perché per entrambi le “donne perdute” sono solo quelle a cui sono state date indicazioni stradali poco chiare. Perché entrambi vogliono che “libertà”, “scelta” e “dignità” siano più di semplici parole.

Perché entrambi sanno che solo seguendo la “Stella Polare” “ce la possiamo fare” (WeCan[do]It).
