Caroline and Morgan supporting AIABA
My daughter, Morgan, and I are walking for 4 days in October along 100 km of an ancient pilgrim route, the Via Francigena, with a group of 'girls' I went to school with.
We hope to raise funds and awareness for a very special charity in Tuscany called AIABA Onlus. The charity was founded by a group of parents of children with severe autism and one of the parents now involved with AIABA is my lovely school friend, Indira. AIABA Onlus runs centres that provide comprehensive care and treatment for both children and adults on the autistic spectrum. Autism is for life and these children and adults will need on-going care in safe, specialist environments. Indira and her husband work with the "Dopo di Noi" (After us) project that hopes to open a centre for those patients whose parents are deceased or unable to look after them because of ill health.
One of Indira's children, Pierfrancesco, is 22 and needs the same level of special care now as he did when younger - as do all his young adult friends who attend his AIABA Onlus school. The walk will raise much-needed funds for a residential school in Florence and for the Dopo di Noi project. Indira and the women who organised this walk were all amazing and had huge hearts at age 11 when I met them, and are even more huge hearted now...many moons later!
Morgan and I wish to thank you for visiting our fundraising page. Your donation will go towards a very worthwhile cause that will help severely autistic children and adults live their lives to their full potential.
